Gilmer High School graduate Isaac Bradshaw is a two-time recipient of the Future of Our Trades Scholarship, awarded in 2021 and 2023. This support played a vital role in helping him graduate from Western Carolina University in May 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business Management.
Isaac was drawn to construction management because of his love for hands-on work and the satisfaction of seeing projects come to life from start to finish. The scholarship significantly eased the financial burden of attending school out of state, allowing him to complete his degree with minimal debt while being part of a community that invests in the future of the trades.
Throughout college, Isaac gained valuable experience working for Sumner Custom Homes during breaks and holidays, and he continues to build his career with Keith Sumner following graduation. His work has given him an in-depth understanding of both the construction and management sides of the industry.
Currently, he is pursuing his residential and light commercial building license with the goal of becoming an established and trusted builder. Looking ahead, Isaac is eager to keep learning and growing in the building industry. His advice to students considering a career in the trades is simple yet powerful: “It is worth the time and effort you put forth—persevere even when challenges come.”
